Key People

MICHAEL BLAIN - GENERAL manager

Having joined the group in 2007, Michael brought with him 10 years of business and financial management experience from across a number of industry sectors both in Australia and Britain.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Law and his focus is on ensuring the company is well positioned to meet the growing and changing needs of clients, stakeholders, team members and shareholders.

Michael maintains strong family and business links in regional Queensland.

Michael is a Director of The Surveyors Trust.

Steve renouf - general manager - operations

Steve’s expertise lies in road infrastructure, marine and civil engineering surveying.

During his 22 years’ experience, Steve has worked on projects involving pre-design detail and terrain modelling, bridge set out and construction, road construction, set out and engineering audits and digital design data management for construction.

Over the last few years Steve’s portfolio has expanded into greenfield mine site development, coal port terminal expansions, construction of new coal port infrastructure and engineering maintenance of existing coal port infrastructure.

Nick Tangata - Operations manager - South-east queensland

Nick has over 15 years’ experience in the surveying industry, both in Australia and New Zealand.

Nick’s experience extends to all disciplines within the field of surveying and included large infrastructure projects in the resource sector; civil and structural-mechanical-piping (SMP) surveying; earthworks (road, rail and conveyor bulk and detail earthworks); bridges, concrete and steel; road and rail pavement set-out and design.

Nick has refined project management skills; he manages multiple projects concurrently with high accuracy and proficiency.

Nick’s work demands effectual communication with senior construction managers/directors through to site engineers and general site personnel.

NATHAN BAMPTON - Operations manager - Wollongong

Nathan has over 20 years’ experience in field surveying. His capabilities span across all facets of the profession and he has project managed large teams of surveyors in many infrastructure projects across NSW & QLD. Nathan’s skill set extends to structural, mechanical & piping (SMP) surveying, bridges, high rise, specialised 3D and mapping, road & rail and has over extensive experience working alongside Registered Surveyors on cadastral and mining projects. His attention to detail and constant motivation to achieve successful outcomes for clients is one of Nathan’s key talents.

Karen norton - Operations manager - GLADSTONE & ROCKHAMPTON

As a registered cadastral and consulting surveyor with the Surveyors Board of Queensland, Karen has over 18 years’ experience, both in Australia and New Zealand.

Karen leads the growing team in Gladstone and Rockhampton. Her experience includes large and small scale engineering, construction and cadastral projects.

DAVID JOLLIE - registered surveyor

David is a surveyor registered with the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information, NSW and holds a Bachelor of Surveying (Hons) degree awarded by the University of NSW.

David has over 50 years’ experience in surveying. His capabilities span across all facets of the profession, including working in heavy industry at the Port Kembla steelworks as well as subsidence and cadastral surveys for the local coal mines. He spent approximately 10 years working in Local Government. The work included engineering survey and design for roads and drainage, as well as cadastral surveying.

Mining Operations - CENTRAL QUEENSLAND

Supply of full survey teams to run and manage production, progress and planning surveys. Provide ongoing set out and support for monthly reporting on quantities and targets. Execution and master update of mine models. Create statutory mine plans to meet regulations, life of mine and exploration surveys.
